Introducing The Hamclap Seniors
Stan Allen, the Rover Scout Leader in the era of The Swamplanders, had observed the antics of the 8th Lambeth's Senior Scouts over several years. These, together with various incidents involving the then Scout Troop, provided the basis for the Hamclap Seniors saga.

If you live in South London, you will probably have worked out that "Hamclap" isn't so very different from "Clapham" - a mere two stops southwards on the Northern tube line from Stockwell, the home of the Swamplanders. Be assured, though, none of the Hamclap Seniors events actually took place in Clapham - which will probably come as a great relief to residents of that fair part of South London.

The exploits of the Hamclap Seniors appeared in, at least, three editions of The Scouter, the national magazine for adult scout leaders in the UK, in 1960, 1961 and 1962. We've salvaged the texts and they are featured on this website.

Finally, a little disclaimer... Whilst almost everything is based on some real-life event or other, author Stan would probably be the first to admit that he employed a certain amount of creative licence.
