7DB, 10am-4pm. The church in late Norman style by F A Walters
was officially opened in December 1885.
Local History of North Beach Street, Landmark Centre, 129 High
Street, Deal CT14 6BB, 1pm-4pm. An exhibition by the Addelam
History Research Group presenting their latest research on Beach Street.
Chapel of the Sacred Heart, 318 Dover Road, Walmer CT14 7NX, 10am-4pm.
The only remaining part of the Convent of the Visitation, designed
in 1881 in Gothic style by Peter Paul Pugin and Cuthbert Pugin, but
not completed until 1890.
St Mary's Church, St Mary's Road, Walmer CT14 7QA, 10am-4pm.
St Mary's is a fine example of Victorian Gothic revivalism, being
surprisingly large and airy for a parish church.
Blessed Mary of Walmer, Church Street, Walmer CT14 7RX, 10am-4pm.
Dating back to the 12th century, this delightful church contains six
funerary hatchments, including that of The Duke of Wellington who
worshipped there.
St Nicholas' Church, Church Lane, Ringwould CT14 8HR, 10am-4pm.
A Grade I listed 12th century church with 14th century additions and
a tower from 1628, much altered in the 19th century.
St John the Evangelist Church, Kingsdown
Upper Street, Kingsdown CT14 8BJ, 10am-4pm. Completed in 1850
and funded by William Curling who also built the local school.

at Walmer - A Churchman, Statesman and Gentleman", St Mary's

Revd Dr Richard Warden, Former Army Chaplain and Chaplain of Wellington
College. It coincides with the 173rd anniversary of The Duke of Wellingtons
death at Walmer Castle in 1852.
After the talk, there will be an opportunity to visit the Blessed
St Mary Church, in nearby Church Road, where the Duke of Wellington
attended worship for 23 years when resident in Walmer Castle.
