Deal Bandstand
and Pier
Taken from a hand tinted picture postcard, possibly
produced around 1900. The Pier, opened in 1864, was
the second one to be built on this site. It remained
a popular visitor attraction until the second World
War when, in January 1940, it was badly damaged by a
Dutch vessel The Nora that had been crippled
by a mine.
